“It’s important that we continue our work to keep housing affordable. I said it earlier, and it bears repeating: I’d like to make money, but you don’t have to make it all. That’s been my philosophy for the last 28 years, and it will be my philosophy for the next 28.” Gene Burger, 1997

“Because I didn’t start out to go into this business, a lot of what I’ve learned has been as I went along. I also joined the Institute of Real Estate Management and took a number of courses through that organization. In fact, I’ve since taught real estate management at City College of San Francisco for several years, and I am still involved in program development there. Learning as I went perhaps hasn’t been the easiest way to do things, but I think the real world experience has been invaluable.”
- Gene Burger
A former national president of IREM, Eugene served on several of that institute’s committees, including as vice-chair of the institute’s foundation, and the National Federal Housing Liaison Committee. As a licensed real estate broker, he also served on the National Association of Realtors’ Housing and Community Development Committee.
